A unique opportunity to savour the delights of a Sailing break in reputedly ‘the best sailing waters of the world’ without the stresses and strains of being responsible for a yacht or a crew. This activity was a dream of the owners who were keen to share this magical experience with their guests, sailors and non-sailors alike, where you can be at one with elements trusting the able boat and its crew of Ken and Anne, to take care of you and entertain you for the day giving an insight into life at sea and also life and living on the Isle of Skye.
Ken is a Yacht master with many years sailing experience. He is also a Master Mariner with great respect for the seas. Anne is a Day Skipper, a native of Skye and a Gaelic speaker. There is an abundance of regular sightings of wildlife around our coasts, namely otters, seals, basking sharks, dolphins, porpoise, whales and seabirds. Sailing breaks in the waters around Skye are offered as a day sailing experience exclusively for guests at both Duisdale and Toravaig House Hotels.
Skye sailing experience
To maximise the Skye sailing experience, the route for the day’s sailing break will be subject to wind direction. Solus a Chuain is available for exclusive day charter for groups up to 10 persons. Warm, water/shower proof clothes are required together with light, flexible shoes.
Sailing commences at 10.30am and returning to Skye at 4.30pm approximately. A freshly prepared buffet lunch is served on deck together with a complimentary glass of fine wine or champagne.

Sailing breaks depend on the weather and Ken’s decision on the morning of sailing is final. He has had a wealth of experience of sea conditions and the safety of guests is paramount.
