Armadale Castle is just a short drive from Duisdale House Hotel, towards Armadale Ferry port, is Clan Donald Skye Estate, home of Armadale Castle & Gardens. The Estate covers 20,000 acres (8,000 hectares) and is a working highland estate. The Castle and Gardens are open to the public along with the award winning Museum of the Isles, Stables Restaurant and Gift Shop. The Castle Gardens have been restored over recent years and ongoing development and planting, create a haven of scent and colour. The result is 40 acres of fascinating gardens and woodland area for all the family to enjoy. Magnificent trees, some almost 200 years old, tower above stunning carpets of bluebells, orchids and wildflowers in spring and summer. Sheltered below the giants are the young firs which will eventually replace them, as well as the growing collections of elegant birch and beech trees.
Today, Armadale Castle itself is an imposing sculptured ruin and the staircase and facade are often used for wedding ceremonies. Well worth a visit – it is open all year but limited opening from November to March so check their website for details.
Dunvegan Castle on the Isle of Skye is home to the current clan chief of the clan Macleod, one of the oldest clans in Scotland. Situated in the North West of Skye, Dunvegan Castle does not only offer a grand tour through the castle, viewing exhibits on the history of the clan and the famous Fairy flag, but has stunning, well kept gardens and offers seal watching trips. Dunvegan Castle was used during the classic 1986 film ‘Highlander’. Dunvegan Castle is located in the west of Skye with Duisdale House Hotel in the east. From the hotel, the drive to Dunvegan Castle is just over an hour through some of Skye’s most breathtaking scenery.
Eilean Donan Castle is the famous, iconic castle, situated on the small island of Eilean Donan in Loch Duich connected by a bridge to mainland Scotland. It is well known worldwide, having featured in many films, such as The Master of Ballantrae (1953), The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes (1970), Highlander (1985), Loch Ness (1996), Entrapment (1999), The World Is Not Enough (1999), Elizabeth: The Golden Age (2007), Maid of Honour (2007) and the TV series The New Avengers (1976).

In addition, Eilean Donan Castle is probably one of the most popular castles in Scotland in which to get married, with the Isle of Skye in close proximity.
